FC Chur are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Daniel Moreno from Racing Santander for a club-record fee of €3.5 million.
The 23-year-old returns to Chur after a hugely impactful loan spell during the 2038–39 season, where he became a central figure in the club’s progression both on and off the pitch. Following a year back in Spain, Moreno now rejoins the club on a long-term deal, reaffirming a connection that has already proven to be both natural and transformative.
Moreno’s technical quality, tactical intelligence, and emotional connection to the club made him a priority target throughout the past year. His return represents a significant statement of intent as Chur continue to build a squad aligned with their long-term vision.
Daniel Moreno said: “Coming back to Chur feels like coming home. From the first day I arrived here on loan, I felt something different – with the people, the city, and the way football is lived at this club. Last season in Spain helped was tough and I always knew I wanted to return. I believe in what we are building here, and I want to be part of it for the long term. I am already working closely with some players here who I worked with previously. We have unfinished business.“
Manager Iñaki Arriola spoke of his admiration for the midfielder and the importance of his return: “Daniel is not just a player we admire – he is a player who understands us. His time here before was not adaptation, it was alignment. He interprets space, tempo, and responsibility in a way that reflects our identity. Bringing him back was not simply a decision of quality, but of meaning. He raises our level, but more importantly, he strengthens who we are.“
Chairman Semir Chiesa highlighted the broader significance of the signing: “This is a landmark moment for FC Chur. Daniel represents the type of player we want to invest in – young, driven, and deeply connected to our project. Breaking our transfer record is not something we do lightly, but in this case, it reflects both belief and ambition. We are building something sustainable, something rooted in identity, and Daniel is a key part of that future.“
Moreno will wear the number 7, previously assigned during his loan spell, symbolising both continuity and renewed purpose as he begins the next chapter of his journey in Chur.
Willkommen, Daniel.

A familiar face returns to Switzerland 👀Daniel Moreno rejoins FC Chur 97 — a player who lit up the competition during his previous spell✨ #UEL

We all knew this was coming 😭 Moreno just gets us. The way he controlled games in that loan spell… different level. €3.5M sounds big but honestly? Worth every cent.

@AlpineAnalytics
This is huge. Moreno in Arriola’s system is basically a cheat code. Half-spaces ✔️ Tempo control ✔️ Press resistance ✔️ He makes the whole structure function.
@NeutralFootyView
€3.5M for Moreno is… bold. Good player, sure, but club-record? Feels like Chur are paying for familiarity as much as performance.
@RacingNorte1923
Still don’t understand why we never trusted Moreno properly. Clearly talented, goes on loan, thrives, comes back… and barely used again. Now he’s gone.Strange management.
@VerdiblancoFinance
€3.5M for Moreno is solid business tbh 💰 Didn’t really fit here, and that money helps rebuild. No complaints. Good luck to him.
@TacticalViewEU
Moreno to Chur is less about “signing a midfielder” and more about restoring a reference point. He’s one of those players who connects phases — build-up to progression to final third. Arriola clearly sees him as structural, not rotational.
@SwissFootyLens
Underrated aspect of this move: continuity. Moreno doesn’t need adaptation time – he accelerates Chur immediately. In a system built on automatisms, that’s invaluable.
