Sami Ramdane Begins His Professional Journey
One of the most exciting arrivals of the winter window is Algerian winger Sami Ramdane. Joining from Aston Villa for the first senior loan spell of his career, Ramdane represents exactly the type of player the V Sports network was designed to develop. Another Investment for the Future — Ibrahim Tapsoba
The only permanent signing completed this winter is perhaps the clearest example yet of the V Sports recruitment model.
Real Unión secured Burkina Faso full-back Ibrahim Tapsoba from AS Fonctionnaires before immediately loaning him back for the remainder of the campaign. The eighteen-year-old already possesses impressive athletic foundations. Quick over short distances, agile in recovery and blessed with excellent stamina, he looks capable of developing into a modern attacking full-back.
What truly attracted scouts, however, was his mentality. Bravery, teamwork and ambition all stand out, while his willingness to learn convinced the recruitment team he represents another outstanding long-term investment. By allowing him to remain in his current environment for another six months, Real Unión ensure he continues playing regularly before arriving in Spain better prepared for European football. It is patient recruitment rather than rushed recruitment.
League Performance — Quietly Becoming Promotion Contenders
After twenty-six matches, Real Unión occupy eighth place with forty points. On paper that might appear solid. In reality it is extraordinary. Only three points separate Samuel Eto’o’s side from the playoff places, and with Barcelona Atlètic currently occupying fifth position, there remains a realistic possibility that seventh place could ultimately become enough for the promotion playoffs should the reserve side remain ineligible. The pairing has completely transformed the midfield. Berlin Didiba deserves enormous credit. The Cameroonian centre-back arrived with high expectations and has immediately stabilised the defence. Although defenders rarely dominate headlines, his reliability has allowed the team to compete against some of the division’s strongest attacks. Pacôme Konaté has continued to justify his status as first-choice goalkeeper.
Rarely spectacular but consistently dependable, he has provided the calm presence every young defence requires. Further forward, Rayan Cissé remains the club’s leading goalscorer with seven league goals. While that total perhaps falls slightly below expectations for a first-choice striker, his overall contribution and movement remain valuable. The supporting cast has arguably provided greater balance than reliance upon one prolific scorer. Souleymane Fofana, Lamine Sagna and several wide players have all chipped in with important goals and assists throughout the campaign. Among the younger players, the impact has been remarkable. Kaba Samassa looked immediately comfortable during his short spell. Sami Ramdane has made an electric start following his arrival, already contributing goals despite limited appearances. Baba Kamissoko has also settled quickly, while Moussa Koné immediately strengthens an already impressive midfield rotation. Michael Eshun and Ibrahima Ngom are still awaiting their opportunities, but both are viewed internally as players capable of making important contributions during the promotion run-in.
