This summer was defined by difficult departures, intelligent reinvestment and a continued commitment to identifying undervalued talent before the rest of Europe recognises their potential. Rather than replacing outgoing players with expensive, ready-made names, the club has once again searched for footballers whose ceilings remain far higher than their current reputations. The departures generated healthy profits that will continue to strengthen the club financially, while three carefully selected additions arrive with the technical ability, athleticism and mentality required to fit seamlessly into the GAIS identity.

Youssoupha Camara
Djurgårdens IF – €4.6 million
Perhaps the most satisfying transfer of the summer from a sporting perspective was the sale of Youssoupha Camara to fellow Allsvenskan side Djurgårdens IF. Camara joined GAIS for just €105,000, making this one of the club’s finest examples yet of the V Sports recruitment model in action. Identified early, developed patiently and eventually sold for more than forty times the original investment, his journey perfectly demonstrates why the network continues to prioritise identifying talent before market values begin to inflate. His performances over the last two seasons had attracted increasing attention across Sweden. Calm in possession, physically dominant and developing into an increasingly reliable defender, Camara became one of the league’s most promising young centre-backs. Djurgårdens believe they are signing a defender capable of anchoring their defence for years to come. From GAIS’ perspective, this is another outstanding piece of business. Abdessalem Akid
Malmö FF – €13,750
The departure of Abdessalem Akid is very different. Financially, the fee is insignificant compared to other business completed this summer, but football development is rarely measured solely by transfer income. Sometimes a player simply needs a fresh opportunity. Akid moves to Malmö FF knowing that consistent first-team football became increasingly difficult following the emergence of several younger midfielders within the squad. Rather than allowing his development to stagnate, both club and player agreed that a move represented the best solution. Although his time at GAIS never quite produced the breakthrough many hoped for, he leaves having contributed positively whenever called upon and with the full support of everyone connected with the football club. Abdellah Driouech
IR Tanger – €1 million
The first arrival of the summer may ultimately prove one of the smartest. Abdellah Driouech joins from Moroccan side IR Tanger for €1 million, arriving as one of the most exciting young wide players to emerge from North Africa in recent years. Although naturally capable of operating as a wing-back, his versatility makes him an exceptionally valuable addition. Comfortable on either flank and equally capable of playing as a more advanced wide midfielder, Driouech offers tactical flexibility that fits perfectly within the fluid systems preferred throughout the V Sports network. What immediately stands out is his explosive athleticism.
He possesses outstanding acceleration and pace, allowing him to attack space aggressively both in transition and when overlapping from deeper positions. Once in possession, he combines that speed with excellent close control and impressive technical quality, making him extremely difficult to stop in one-versus-one situations. Unlike many young attacking full-backs, Driouech already demonstrates encouraging maturity in his decision-making. He understands when to drive forward and when to retain possession, while his work rate allows him to recover quickly after joining attacks. His technical ability also makes him extremely comfortable building play from deeper areas rather than simply relying upon physical gifts. The coaching staff believe his long-term future could eventually become that of a complete modern wing-back capable of influencing matches at both ends of the pitch. Yassine El Ouahabi
IR Tanger – €1 million
Joining alongside his former teammate is another Moroccan talent in Yassine El Ouahabi, who arrives for an identical €1 million fee. While Driouech offers width and dynamism, El Ouahabi brings creativity through the middle. Comfortable operating as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder or even further forward if required, he is exactly the type of technically gifted footballer that modern possession-based systems demand. His greatest strengths lie in his intelligence with the ball. He consistently scans the pitch before receiving possession, allowing him to play forward quickly and identify passing opportunities others simply fail to notice. His vision and imagination give him the ability to unlock organised defensive structures, while his first touch allows him to receive under pressure and immediately progress attacks. Technically, he is already remarkably polished for a player still only eighteen years old. Perhaps most exciting is how naturally he fits the V Sports philosophy.
He wants possession. He wants responsibility. He wants to create. The expectation is that El Ouahabi will gradually develop into one of the team’s primary creative influences over the coming seasons as he adapts to Swedish football.
Aziz Ouattara
Maccabi Netanya – €950,000
The most experienced signing of the window arrives in the form of Aziz Ouattara, who joins from Maccabi Netanya for €950,000.
Unlike the two Moroccan youngsters, Ouattara arrives ready to make an immediate impact. Operating primarily as a defensive midfielder, he brings balance to a side filled with technically gifted attacking players. His game is built around intelligence, positioning and defensive discipline rather than spectacular moments, exactly the qualities required to provide structure in midfield. Standing over six feet tall, he offers a commanding physical presence without sacrificing mobility. Strong in aerial duels, composed under pressure and consistently well positioned, Ouattara excels at breaking up opposition attacks before quickly recycling possession to more creative teammates. He reads the game exceptionally well. Rather than diving into challenges unnecessarily, he anticipates danger early, intercepting passes and protecting the defensive line through intelligent positioning. With the ball, he remains calm and efficient. His passing is simple but purposeful, ensuring GAIS maintain possession while controlling the rhythm of matches. He rarely forces difficult passes, preferring instead to provide a reliable platform from which the team’s more adventurous players can flourish. His leadership and experience should also prove invaluable inside one of the youngest squads in the division. While others provide flair, Ouattara provides stability. Every successful midfield requires that balance.
