V SPORTS CONTINUES AFRICAN RECRUITMENT DRIVE WITH APPOINTMENT OF JIMMY ADJOVI-BOCO AS GAIS DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL

Gothenburg, Sweden – V Sports is delighted to announce the appointment of Jimmy Adjovi-Boco as the new Director of Football at GAIS, continuing the expansion of our African-led recruitment infrastructure across the V Sports network. Following the recent strengthening of Vitória S.C.’s recruitment department, attention has now turned north to Sweden, where GAIS has become the latest club to receive a significant investment in football leadership. The appointment of Adjovi-Boco is another important milestone in the long-term vision of the African Project. Our ambition has never simply been to recruit the best African footballers. Our ambition is to build an organisation where African expertise sits at the very heart of every footballing decision. Today, we are proud to welcome one of African football’s most respected figures into the V Sports family.

Experience Across Continents

Jimmy Adjovi-Boco arrives in Gothenburg with a wealth of footballing experience spanning more than four decades. The 61-year-old Beninese enjoyed an accomplished playing career throughout Europe, representing clubs including Lens, Amiens, Rouen, Tours and Hibernian, gaining first-hand experience of different footballing cultures and development systems. More recently, he has helped shape the future of African football away from the pitch as Director of Football at Diambars FC, one of Senegal’s most respected football academies. Diambars has earned an outstanding reputation for producing technically gifted young footballers while simultaneously developing young people through education, discipline and professionalism. Those values closely mirror the philosophy V Sports intends to establish throughout its network. Jimmy’s understanding of player development extends far beyond identifying talented footballers. He understands what it takes to prepare young players for life in Europe, both professionally and personally. That experience is invaluable.

Why GAIS?

While Vitória S.C. has been identified as the primary gateway into European football for many of our highest-rated prospects, GAIS represents another vital stage within the V Sports pathway. Swedish football has become increasingly recognised as an outstanding environment for developing young players. The league offers regular first-team opportunities, excellent coaching standards and a competitive but patient environment where emerging talent can mature without the immediate pressures found in Europe’s biggest leagues.

For many players arriving from Africa, GAIS will provide the ideal platform to gain valuable senior experience before progressing further through the V Sports network. As the club grows both on and off the pitch, so too must the quality of its football operations. Jimmy Adjovi-Boco will play a central role in ensuring that growth is built upon intelligent recruitment rather than short-term spending.

Building Relationships, Not Just Recruitment Lists

One of the defining principles of the African Project has always been that recruitment is about far more than statistics. Data can identify potential. Relationships uncover opportunity. Throughout his career, Adjovi-Boco has developed extensive connections across West African football, particularly through his work with Diambars FC and his long-standing involvement in youth development. He understands the academies producing tomorrow’s stars. He understands the coaches nurturing those players. He understands the families who entrust clubs with their sons’ futures. Those relationships are impossible to recreate through scouting databases alone. They are built through decades of trust, integrity and shared ambition. It is exactly this type of network that V Sports believes will separate our recruitment model from traditional European scouting operations.

An African Identity Throughout the Network

The appointment also represents another step towards establishing a consistent African identity across every level of the V Sports organisation. Our players should see people who understand their journey. Our recruitment decisions should be influenced by individuals who understand the footballing environments they come from. Our clubs should become recognised across Africa as destinations where talent will be understood, nurtured and developed rather than simply bought and sold. By appointing experienced African football leaders throughout the network, we are creating an environment where cultural understanding becomes a competitive advantage. This philosophy extends beyond the pitch. It shapes recruitment. Player welfare. Academy development. Community engagement. Every decision we make.

Looking Towards the Future

With recruitment departments now taking shape across both Portugal and Sweden, the foundations of the African Project continue to grow stronger. The appointment of Jimmy Adjovi-Boco is another statement that V Sports is investing not only in elite players, but also in elite people. Great football clubs are built by exceptional individuals working behind the scenes long before supporters celebrate new signings on the pitch.

Jimmy’s experience, his football knowledge and his deep connections throughout African football will strengthen GAIS immediately while further enhancing the pathway that links Africa to Europe through the V Sports family. Every appointment brings us one step closer to our ambition. To become the world’s leading destination for African football talent. And today, we are proud to welcome another outstanding leader to help make that vision a reality.
