REAL UNION BECOMES THE NEXT STEP IN THE V SPORTS PLAYER PATHWAY

Following the completion of our first recruitment window, V Sports is delighted to confirm that seven young players from across the network will spend the 2025/26 season on loan at Real Union Club under the guidance of Samuel Eto’o. Although Real Union remains independently managed within the V Sports family, the club occupies a hugely important position within our long-term vision. With Samuel Eto’o leading the project in Spain, we believe this is the perfect opportunity to strengthen his squad while providing valuable development opportunities for some of the brightest young players across the network. Football development is about more than simply collecting talented players. It is about placing those players in environments where they can compete, improve and ultimately prepare themselves for the next step in their careers. Real Union provides exactly that opportunity. This season marks the beginning of what we hope will become an increasingly important partnership.

Building a Winning Team in Spain

Promotion has always been the immediate objective for Samuel Eto’o and Real Union. Success in Spain would represent far more than simply climbing one division. Every promotion increases the level of football available to our developing players. Higher quality opposition, larger crowds, increased media attention and more competitive football all create a stronger development environment. The stronger Real Union becomes, the stronger the entire V Sports network becomes. Rather than viewing the club as simply another loan destination, we see Real Union as an essential stepping stone between Scandinavian, French and Portuguese football and the highest levels of European competition. Players who excel in Spain will return to their parent clubs more experienced, more resilient and better prepared for the demands awaiting them.

Giving Samuel Eto’o the Tools to Succeed

Samuel Eto’o accepted the challenge of managing Real Union knowing he would play a unique role within the V Sports family. His task extends beyond winning football matches. He is helping shape the final stage of our European player pathway. By providing him with talented young footballers from across the network, we are giving him every opportunity to build a competitive squad capable of challenging for promotion. At the same time, Eto’o’s experience at the very highest level of world football makes him the ideal mentor for young players taking their first major steps in senior football. Few people understand elite performance better than the former Champions League winner. Our players will benefit enormously from working under his guidance.

A Loan System With Purpose

Every player arriving at Real Union has been selected for a specific reason. These are not surplus squad members simply looking for minutes. Each player represents an important part of our long-term plans. By competing together under the same tactical philosophy already used throughout the V Sports network, their development continues seamlessly despite playing for another club. They will train within the same footballing identity. They will understand the same tactical principles. They will return to their parent clubs already familiar with the demands expected across the entire network. It is one of the greatest strengths of the V Sports model.

The Seven Players Heading to Spain

The first intake of players arriving at Real Union reflects the diversity of talent already developing throughout the V Sports family.

From Aston Villa, three exciting young prospects will join Samuel Eto’o’s squad.

Thierry Katsukunya, a powerful 19-year-old centre-back, will gain valuable senior experience in Spanish football as he continues his defensive development. Alongside him arrives Omar Khedr, the highly-rated 19-year-old Egyptian left winger whose creativity and direct running have made him one of Villa’s most exciting attacking prospects. Completing Villa’s trio is Mohamed Koné, an elegant 18-year-old central midfielder from Ivory Coast who will benefit enormously from regular first-team football.

Vitória S.C. will contribute two players to the project.

Brazilian defender Thiago Balieiro, 22, adds maturity and composure to Real Union’s back line, while exciting 18-year-old Mozambican winger Enrique Lameiras will have the opportunity to showcase his pace and attacking flair in Spain.

From Annecy, defensive midfielder Matteo Veillon joins the squad. At 23 years of age, the Frenchman provides balance and experience in midfield while continuing his own progression within the V Sports pathway.

Finally, GAIS sends Swedish striker Max Anderson, a 22-year-old forward whose movement, work rate and eye for goal make him another player expected to benefit significantly from consistent senior football.

Together, these seven players will immediately strengthen Samuel Eto’o’s squad while gaining invaluable experience of competitive football in Spain.

Strengthening the Entire Network

The success of this partnership will not simply be measured by results this season. It will be measured by what Real Union becomes over the coming years. A promotion-winning side creates a more attractive destination for future loan players. Higher divisions provide tougher football. Tougher football creates better players. Better players strengthen Aston Villa, Vitória, GAIS and Annecy when they return. That cycle of continuous improvement sits at the heart of the V Sports philosophy. Every club exists to strengthen the next. Every player has a pathway. Every promotion raises the standard of the entire organisation.

Looking Ahead

The first seven players have now begun their journey under Samuel Eto’o. They represent the first wave of talent to benefit from a pathway specifically designed to maximise player development across multiple countries and leagues. Real Union’s ambitions are now aligned with those of every club within the V Sports family. Promotion is no longer just important for one club. It is important for the future of an entire football network. As the African Project continues to grow, partnerships like this will become increasingly important. Because at V Sports, success is never measured by one team alone. It is measured by how every club helps build the future of the next.
