Chur Sign Midfielder Aziz Khalifa on Three-Year Deal

FC Chur are pleased to confirm the signing of midfielder Aziz Khalifa following his departure from Stade Brestois 29. The 26-year-old joins on a free transfer and has signed a three-year contract running until June 2041. He will wear the number 16 shirt.

Khalifa, who spent his entire professional career with Brest, made 72 senior appearances for the French club across all competitions and gained further experience last season during a loan spell with Western Sydney Wanderers in Australia. While opportunities were limited in France, Chur’s recruitment department identified key underlying indicators within his performances that aligned closely with the club’s positional and defensive demands.

Having trained with the squad in recent weeks, Khalifa has already impressed staff with his professionalism, intensity, and application.

Head coach Iñaki Arriola commented:

“We have seen something in Aziz that we feel has been missed. His mentality is strong, he is brave in his actions, and he has qualities that fit the reference points we demand in our deepest midfield role. The statistical sample is not large, and we accept that. But sometimes you must look beyond volume and focus on profile. We believe there is growth here.”

Primarily operating as a deep-lying No.6, Khalifa will provide rotational support within the double pivot five matches into the new season, strengthening Chur’s defensive structure and competition levels as the transfer window remains open.

Born in Switzerland and eligible for Tunisia through his father, Khalifa moved to France at a young age and developed within the Brest system. Now seeking a fresh start after a challenging period of limited opportunities, he arrives in Graubünden motivated to re-establish himself at senior level.

Speaking after signing, Khalifa said:

“I needed a new environment and a new challenge. The project here is clear, demanding and ambitious. I have been in the background for a while, but I feel ready to prove myself and give everything for this club.”

Everyone at FC Chur welcomes Aziz to the club and looks forward to supporting him in the next chapter of his career.
