FC Chur is proud to confirm the appointment of Semir Chiesa as the club’s new President, following the conclusion of the club’s most recent elections. Chiesa succeeds Simon Hofer, who steps down after three years of service during a period of stabilisation and renewed ambition for the club.

Semir Chiesa, 46, was born and raised in Chur, growing up in the Plessur valley in a family with deep roots in Graubünden. The son of a railway engineer and a secondary school teacher, Chiesa’s early life was shaped by the rhythms of Alpine infrastructure: early mornings, long winters, and an understanding that progress in the mountains is built patiently, layer by layer. He attended school in Chur before completing vocational training in civil engineering, later studying construction management in Zürich.

After returning to Graubünden in his early thirties, Chiesa founded Chiesa Alpine Solutions AG, an engineering and infrastructure firm specialising in Alpine civil works. Under his leadership, the company has grown into a respected regional partner involved in tunnel reinforcement, slope stabilisation, avalanche protection systems, and transport infrastructure across eastern Switzerland. Known for operating away from the spotlight, Chiesa Alpine Solutions has built its reputation on reliability, sustainability, and long-term planning rather than rapid expansion.

Chiesa has never sought public prominence. A lifelong follower of Chur, he has followed the club from the stands for decades and has quietly supported youth sport initiatives across the canton. His decision to stand for the presidency was driven, he says, by a belief that clubs like Chur play a vital social role in regional life – providing structure, opportunity, and identity for young people in a demanding Alpine environment.

Speaking on his appointment, Chiesa said:

“Chur does not need grand promises or short-term excitement. It needs clarity, patience, and people who believe in systems. My role is not to interfere in football matters, but to ensure the club is supported, stable, and able to plan with confidence.”

In line with this philosophy, Chiesa has made clear that sporting decisions will remain in the hands of the club’s football leadership. His presidency will focus on governance, financial sustainability, infrastructure development, and strengthening the connection between the club and the wider Graubünden community.

As part of this new chapter, Chiesa Alpine Solutions AG will enter into a long-term partnership with FC Chur, becoming the club’s principal shirt sponsor from next season. The partnership reflects a shared set of values: durability, regional pride, and belief in collective effort over individual recognition.

The Board of FC Chur would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Simon Hofer for his commitment and leadership over the past three years, and welcomes Semir Chiesa as the club begins the next phase of its development.

Built on foundations. Moving forward together
